A little baby through Open Adoption

Donation protected

Hello. Most of you know us and some of you may know our situation but not in grave detail.
We have been together for 8 years and married for almost 2. We have talked about having children for about 5 years now. Breeze had a severe case of pneumococcal peritonitis (bacterial stomach infection) when she was 7. This left her with an incredible amount of scar tissue. She had surgery 6 years ago to remove a lot of the scar tissue that was causing her so much pain for so many years. It has always been known to her that having children biologically would probably not be an option for her.

We have been to 4 different fertility clinics for tests, information, and opinions. All the testing of both Breeze and Rocky has shown everything to be in good working condition.(Sounds like we are cars)! The only option for us is IVF (Invetro fertilization). IVF is very expensive and there is no guarantee of a baby at the end. You have to take months of hormones and visit the clinic often, and they are not close. If we are going to spend the time and money on trying to have a baby we want it to work.

After years of exploration, research, and lots of deliberation on the subject we have decided to go with open adoption. We highly agree with the pholosophies of this agency and have made several trips to Portland to visit with them.

We are currently working with Open Adoption and Family Services. We have finished our home study and will be online on the list for birth parents to pick from to raise their baby. This is not an inexpensive endeavor. It costs about $30,000 from start to finish and takes a couple years.

For the expenses needed so far we have used up all our savings and extra money from pay checks. We have also taken a second mortgage out on the house that Rick and Rocky own together. We sold our house to get rid of the high mortgage payments and bought something cheaper and smaller with less of a payment. We paid off our car so that we would not have that payment. Rocky has sold some of his cars and toys to help. We have started applying for every adoption grant out there but many are only for people that belong to a church.

We are able to do most of this on our own credit and with tax credits but want to try to lesson our debt as much as we can. We have made sure we have no other debts in our lives except for this one, which will be worth it.

Any little bit helps. If you can’t then please, please do not feel bad at all. We know there are a lot of things to give to and you can't do it all.

We appreciate you always:-)
