About the Event:
This year Glen Forest Elementary School decided to enter the Odyssey of the Mind Competition for the first time. We had two teams, a younger group and a primary group who met once per week to plan, design and create their interpretation to the 'problem' presented to them by Odyssey of the Mind. On Sunday March 18th they competed at the Division 1 competition and our primary team won!! Much of their competition had been involved in this competition for three or four years and they still came out on top! We are so proud!!! Coming up April 14th they have been invited to the state level competition being held in Newport News, Virginia. The money raised here will go to cover their entrance fee and hotel accommodations for the team, their families and coaches. Any leftover funds will be applied to next year's Odyssey of the Mind team, Glen Forest will definitely be doing this again!
About Our School:
Glen Forest Elementary School is a very large school located in Falls Church, Virginia. We serve about 1,100 students from 56 different countries who speak 39 different languages. Glen Forest sits in a part of Falls Church that is largely labeled low income with 77% of our population qualifying for free or reduced lunch. Let's not let cost squash these girls dreams!!
What is Odyssey of the Mind?
"Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college.
