Our Honeymoon Adventure

Donation protected
Honeymoons are for taking it easy right? Sitting at a beachside resort, cocktail in hand and staring lovingly into each other's eyes?

Hmmm. How about this instead?

Stage 1: We'll ship our bikes to Darwin, explore Kakadu National Park, ride south to Mataranka and then head east to Cairns along (mostly) gravel roads. This 2,400km ride will take us through remote towns,  along vast off-road tracks, through incredible parks and into some of the country's best thermal hot springs. Ahhhh...

With places like "Lost City" and "Hells Gate", what could possibly go wrong ?

On the way we plan to visit indigenous communities and contribute time and resources in whatever way we can. We're still working out the details, but will keep you posted on our plans and opportunities to ride with purpose.

Once we make it to Cairns, we'll wash the dust off with a delicious hot shower, sleep in a comfortable bed for a night or two and no doubt enjoy that beachside cocktail before we saddle up again for the next stage of our honeymoon adventure.

Stage 2: Now the fun really begins as we embark on an 1,800km ride  through swallowing sands, beast-harbouring creeks and along the infamous Old Telegraph Track to Cape York.

Picture long stretches of open country,  national parks, endless dirt roads, deep blue water holes, camp fires...oh and the Normanby River crossing, where signs shout ‘Warning’ and ‘Achtung’ about the reptilian pitfalls of this 200-metre-wide water crossing. What could possibly go wrong?

From Cape York we'll grab a ferry to Thursday Island, spend some time getting to know the locals and figure out how to get us and the bikes back to Sydney.

How good does that sound?

So, in keeping with our life motto of "Less Stuff, More Meaning" we would love for you to contribute to our honeymoon adventure. We truly don't need any more toasters, kettles, vases, pots or pans.

And we promise to take you on this epic ride with us. We'll keep you updated through regular blog posts, Instagram feeds and Facebook stories.

And for our adventure motorcycling friends, you would of course be more than  welcome to join us on the road.
