For over six years, the Australian government has detained hundreds of refugees on Manus and Nauru in conditions condemned by human rights groups and the United Nations.
These include LGBT+ people fleeing religious police. Women fleeing targeted family violence and death threats. Christians, atheists and Muslims fleeing targeted persecution.
Donate now to help us sponsor Manus/Nauru refugees to begin new lives in Canada.
Day by day, month by month, year by year these refugees, many of them in their 20s, are seeing their futures stolen from them, years of their lives spent in limbo.
The situation is especially desperate for more than 200 refugees stuck in detention who have been rejected from the US-Australia resettlement deal — for them the only current option is privately sponsored resettlement in Canada.
Where the government is failing, everyday Aussies and Canadians are stepping up.
But we need your support.
Ads-Up Canada is a volunteer group forming resettlement teams and partnering with charities and nonprofits to sponsor Manus and Nauru refugees through Canada’s Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program.

The Canadian government requires each sponsorship to be supported by $16,500 CAD.
This is what we’re raising money for, and this is why we need you to donate to support these applications.
The entirety of your donation will go to support the settlement costs of refugees. Volunteer settlement teams will welcome and work with each refugee, helping to locate housing, medical care, education and employment, as well as providing social and emotional support,
Our commitment to transparency:
The funds will be held in trust in the personal bank account of Toronto- based Ads-Up Canada co-organizer Laura Beth Bugg at the Royal Bank of Canada. All funds will be transferred to partner non-profits to support Manus/Nauru applications. As funds are raised they will be transferred to Community Matters Toronto, who will hold them in trust until the refugee arrives in Toronto. They will then be given to the refugee on a monthly basis for the first 12 months in Canada. Documentation of the trust account will be submitted to Canadian Immigration along with the refugee's application. Should funds remain and there be no further eligible refugees, surplus funds will be split between Ads-Up Canada and Ads-Up USA for ongoing refugee support.
