My friends Herby and Maddie from the YouTube sailing channel Rigging Doctor https://www.riggingdoctor.com/ ran aground this week.

In Maddie's own words:
"Last night our nightmare came true and our wind steering broke loose. In 10 minutes we were banging into the beach. The rudder quadrant broke again but there don't seem to be any other glaring issues. Nevertheless, we're getting pulled out of the water on Monday. The trip is still on, but the tow cost our entire budget for a year, so we are extra grateful for all of you who are supporting us. We are still shaken up but there have been some wonderful people who put us up for the night and served as moral support during the two hours that we were waiting for the tow. We ended up on the news, so we have given you a link. It's still too hard for me to watch, but I guess we'll have quite the story to tell later. Again, thanks so much!"
The salvage tow (not covered by their unlimited towing subscription!) cost nearly $10,000 - almost all of their cruising kitty for the year! The boat will also need repairs of course.
