5/18/18 Quick & IMPORTANT update!
The Sterlings go to court in 16 days for the adoption of Matty. They had done all that the courts have asked and that their lawyer has suggested. This is a battle that has been going on for nearly four years. They still need to raise roughly $1,500 to pay off the remaining court, publication, server, and lawyer fees.
The family is at the final hurdle of this seemingly endless journey, PLEASE find it in your hearts to donate whatever you can and help Matty and his moms to FINALLY cross the finish line!

It has been quite a while since I've last updated you on this gofundme and it is definitely time now!
About 8 months ago, Matty's biological mother passed away making his adoption a bit easier and SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper, as now it is considered uncontested. With the states of Virginia and Ohio not helping with his court costs, his parents have been quoted a cost from $8,000 to $10,000. Any help getting this family closer to securing Matty's future with them is greatly appreciated.

Meet Matty. Matty was born August 2013 and went into foster care in Ohio a short, one month later.
Fortunately, after a few months, the foster agency was able to contact Desireé, his aunt, and her fiancée, Sara. Without hesitation, Desireé and Sara began foster parenting classes, completed piles of paperwork, and prepared to welcome this precious little boy into their home.
In June 2014, the couple was married and Matty moved into his new home, completing this family of three.
Six months later, Desireé and Sara were invited to Ohio to attend a court hearing to determine the next steps for Matty's case plan. Although Matty's birthmother had not seen or contacted him in over a year, Ohio refused to terminate her parental rights to allow Desireé and Sara to adopt him through the foster agency. Instead, the two were given the option to accept legal custody of their son, or to put him back into the foster system.
Refusing to break up their little family, Desireé and Sara accepted legal custody and now have to fight the adoption battle alone. More than prepared to care for Matty as a son, the couple was not expecting to have to fund the adoption process without help from the foster agency.
Desireé is my best friend, and I created this site to help raise support. I’m asking for prayers, positive thoughts, and monetary donations, because most families don’t have an extra $30,000 to cover the costs of adoption paperwork and lawyer fees just sitting around. Thank you in advance for helping Desireé and Sara give Matty the stability of a loving, forever home through adoption.
