Aden's way home

Donation protected
Hi am Amanda Bisson, Aden's mom. This is Aden's story: Aden was born May 8, 2016.  When I was pregnant I did not know he had a heart condition. Aden was born with CHD congenital heart defect. His aorta valve was narrow,he had the Ross procedure done and he was on ecmo and V.A.D.S all with in the first 30 days of his life. We were flown to Michigan to have them help us. June 28,2016 Aden was on his death bed. With his mom,dad and 3 older sisters by hes side praying and having faith Aden made it through. He was able to go home to South Dakota after 3 months of fighting for his life.

Aden has been in alot of difficult times. But with his strength and will power he always makes it. We have been taking Aden to a special cardiologist2 hours away from home, for his check ups. There has been quite a few times Aden has had to stay overnight in the hospital. He also went often to get his pacemaker checked and have cath labs. March 19, 2019 we had to take Aden back to Michigan to see if they can fix the repairs they made earlier. Cause the repairs they made were leaking cause Aden had gotten bigger.

It worked for a while till August 2019. University of Minnesota had set up an appointment for Aden to come up and get evaluated. But Aden wanted to go earlier. Aden ended up going into heart failure.  So they admitted him right away. Aden was very sick. Alot of hospitals turned him down cause they couldn't help him. So at Masonic they had to get his antibodies down cause they took over 90% of his blood cells. They did this with a machine called plasma. Which would take Adens blood out of his body and replace it with new clean blood. Aden also has rare blood. So their was very limited supply.

Then they had to put him on the Berlin heart (youtube shows great videos). This is to help him live till they find a donor. So more or less its like a mechanical heart. Well Aden didnt like it he was having complications with it. So the team decided to put him on LVADS. he was on this similar machine when he was little.  He was also back on ECMO.  We then brought his siblings to Minnesota to be by his side.

We prayed and prayed for a miracle. October 2, 2019 they had to take him back for emergency surgery. My husband and i got scared when we saw the team rushing to us. But yet they had smiles. "Aden got a donor !!!" I couldnt believe it i made them say it again. Our baby, our baby is saved at least so we thought. Oct 3rd Aden was blessed by an angel. But Aden has had lots of complications. He was left with his chest open for more then 5 months. Cause his heart was to big for him. But they needed a bigger heart to help him get better.

For the last 7 months have been rough. The first 5 months Aden was going to the OR once a week. But once we got the stern partly closed it was getting better. In November the team ended up putting a trach on him. cause his lungs couldnt handle the larger heart. Aden started Physical Thearpy, Occupational thearpy, and speech thearpy. He has really hard days. But as he is getting better they are getting easier. Aden has his chest completely closed.  We are working on trying to get him to walk again. Also we are trying to ween the vent. Today Aden was breathing on his own for 10 mins. So tomorrow we will try 20 mins then next day 30 mins and so on.

Friday Aden will be fitted for a wheelchair. We need to get an apartment up here cause there isnt any transplant medical staff back home so we have to stay up here for at least a year. So I am currently trying to find a job to pay for rent, utilities, and find a vehicle big enough for Aden's wheelchair. We are asking if anyone can help us with living expenses along with traveling expenses. Aden will have to go to the clinic 3-5 times a week. Anything is much appreciated. If you would like to help other ways you can find me Amanda Bisson on Facebook.

Also am in contact with Aden's donor family. So when we raise money I would love to help them out as well.  So the way i feel they are also a part of our family and we need to help each other out. Thank you everyone for your time, thoughts and prayers May god bless.

Lots of love
