Adaptions For Tiger

Donation protected

Tiger is a happy 7 year old little boy. He loves splashing around in water, any toys that launch things or makes noises has him in fits of giggles. He is also a great fan of Peppa Pig & Mr Tumble.

Shortly after Tiger was born he had coarctation of the aorta & had open heart surgery. He also has a bicuspid valve. A few months later he had a massive epileptic seizure & was ventilated in intensive care. This then happened again so a brain scan was done which showed brain damage.

Tiger has multiple disabilities, cerebral palsy, global development delay, epilepsy & dystonia.

He is non mobile & non verbal.

Tiger suffers with dystonia, tight muscles that cause painful spasms that have been unsuccessfully treated with Botox & splints. He takes medication for this along with different medications for epilepsy, drooling, & pain.

Tiger & his family live in a house that is totally unsuitable for him to be able  to enjoy family life. Being unable to lift him up & down stairs has meant the family have had to make their living room his bedroom & they struggle to get him in the bath which is his absolute favourite thing to enjoy. This is also essential due to his incontinence, he currently has to have his pad changed on the floor.

The family bathroom is downstairs & there is also a small kitchen. Being an older property that contained asbestos the family had a great deal of work to finance before it was remotely liveable & the downstairs still needs a lot of work to make it suitable for a family with a disabled child.

There are funds available from the local council which would enable a basic bedroom & wet room to be added to the back of the house. Whilst this is fantastic & appreciated it does not work with the alterations the family wish to make to the rest of the ground floor to enable Tiger to integrate with the family. Ideally a kitchen that is big enough to have a dining table, room for activities to stimulate his sensory needs & room for a tracking hoist throughout the ground floor. There would also need to be an access ramp outside, widened doorways & suitable flooring for his wheelchair.

Currently Tiger is unable to have outside care within the home due to there being no safety equipment for them to use.

With the just grant available it would mean Tiger has to stay in his room at all times.

Tigers Dad Sid is a tradesman & has family & friends also in the building trade able to help run the works which would save the council a good sum of money. They then hoped to use the savings towards the rest of the extension.

Unfortunately the council have refused this proposal as it would cause conflict of interest. Without appearing ungrateful they want to spend the money using their own contractors to build what is essentially a box on the rear of the property.

We would like to raise the money needed to add to the funding of a kitchen, tracking hoist & other essentials so that Tiger can have a good quality of family life, join in with activities & to enable the family to care for him safely.

Katie & Sid are fantastic parents to Tiger & his 10 year old Sister Tilly. They both work hard to provide for their family. It’s very difficult to care for a child with disabilities but they do so admirably with out complaint. Let’s get fundraising to give these guys a break. Any donation big or small would be greatly appreciated.

Any funds raised would be added to the disabled facilities grant given by the local authority. https://youtu.be/wtepkhPYFRw https://youtu.be/ao9Fo6MxxNs
