Adapt home so husband can return home after stroke
Donation protected
My husband Stacey had a stroke April 24th, and was air lifted to Sacred Heart in Spokane. We got to bring him back to Providence in Everett for care. He’s only 54 years old, it was completely unexpected.
We have not gotten to see him in person since the stroke due to the Covid-19 virus and restrictions associated with it.
The stroke had left him unable to eat on his own, he has a feeding tube. He has no use of right arm or leg, and very limited speech. With therapy he is able to feed himself using his left hand, and is learning to get from a bed to his wheelchair using his left arm and leg. We have a long road to recovery ahead of us.
We live in a split level home, and I will be the sole provider for the rest of his/our life. We need to modify the home to allow him to reside in our home after the 3/4 weeks of in patient rehab. If we are not able to, we would need to reside in a care facility or nursing home.
We have installed wheelchair friendly flooring and widened doors. We will still be installing grab bars, ramps, and some rails by the bed.
There will also be some medical expenses not covered by our insurance.
We’d love to have him in his home where his children and grandchildren can see him all the time, and take part in his ongoing recovery. Thank you all so much for helping him come home to us and be safe and comfortable. I’ve updated with pictures of what we’ve done with the money raised so far
