Adam's final wish - Keep a roof over my family

Donation protected
Adam Lowick, everyone said, was larger than life. Adam was an infectiously happy man who filled up a room with mischievousness and laughter. He never failed to pick up the phone when one of his kids was calling, and was always ready to lend a hand to a neighbour, mate, or stranger in need.

Adam and Elise met in 1984.  They were fortunate to find in each other the deepest friendship, love and loyalty, and together brought up their three children: Lachlan (20), Austin (18), and Angelique (17 and currently completing Year 12). They all lived in a tiny brick house in Lane Cove.

Adam passed away, suddenly, in his sleep on 18 March. All of the Lowicks, as you can imagine, are at a total loss without the rock of the family, Adam.

But they are also left with a problem.

For years, Adam had laboured virtually single-handedly on a personal and quixotic dream. Adam worked as a site foreman building houses to his highest standards, and he spent his weekends on his children’s sporting events and being a present father. In between all of that was his vision for the future: A new back wing of the house for the family. They had cooked with a microwave and kettle pot for 10 years. Now they would have a normal-sized kitchen, and the kids would have space for themselves after years of living in tiny damp rooms.

Adam’s sudden death has left a shocked and traumatized family—and a house that is a construction zone. The house is marked with unfinished staircases; half-done floors; exposed ceiling, bricks, and walls; and a hundred or more smaller components left to be completed.

As you might expect, the Lowicks have been devastated financially by the loss of Adam. Emotionally, there will never be the replacing of a more devoted, father, son, and husband. Angelique has to focus on completing her Year 12 journey knowing that her father will not see her graduate. The Lowick family are struggling to live on—in a torn-apart house they have no way to make whole again without help.

A group of Adam’s tradie, contractor and builder friends have stepped up to volunteer their services to finish Adam’s dream and make sure the survivors have a (literal) roof over their heads. The scaffold that has surrounded the house cannot come down without the assistance and generosity of the builders; but the house cannot be finished without the materials, which the family now cannot afford.

Adam’s family are forever grateful for the assistance of all who have ever known him, worked with him and who was a part of his life. But they need help to buy the raw materials.
