Adam's Fight w/ Lymphoma & Crohn's

Donation protected
Over the past 16 years, Adam Olinger's main health concern has always been Crohn's Disease. There had always been plenty of ups and downs over the years, but he learned how to manage and still live a fairly normal life. At 21 years old Adam met the girl of his dreams while attending college. Over 8 years later they are still inseperable.

On June 27th 2016, Adam proposed to Cassie. They were looking forward to getting married June 2017 and looking forward to thier future they are working towards. Adam works full-time at Mariano's as a receiver. His aspiraton is to work in a brewery and learn how to brew beer. Cassie works part-time at a yoga studio. She wants to become a yoga teacher and own & run an animal sanctuary. They have two black cats, Link & Zelda.

With the need of deposits keeping everything from catering, florists, and photographers being finalized, the date for thier big day got delayed to June 2018.

Starting early 2017, out of nowhere, Adam's right eye began to start irritating him. Swelling and making it difficult to see out of.  Thinking it was an abnormality with the Crohn's or an allergy, Adam didn't think anything of it. It steadily got worse. He made an appointment with his GI doctor at University of Chicago. Eyes are not his speciality so Adam was told to see an Ophthalmologist.

After seeing two different ophthalmologists, both who didn't know what was wrong or Adam didn't feel comfortable with, Adam was lead to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. A MRI was done of his head. The results lead the doctor to decide to do a biobsy to get a dianosis. This was done on June 6th, 2017.

Several days later Adam got the results back from the doctor. The diagnosis was Large B Cell Orbital Lymphoma. It manifasted itself as a large mass above the right eye. He got referred to see the oncologists, also at Northwestern.

Over the past several weeks, Adam & Cassie have been back and forth to Northwestern for numerous tests. MRIs, PET scans, Heart Echo, Blood Work, Lumbar Puncture with intrathecal chemotherapy, Bone Marrow Biopsy, etc. This has caused a big dent in paychecks due to many missed days at work for both of them.

Through all of this, Adam has been very optimistic and postive.

The Oncologists decided that Chemotherapy would be the best treatment. His first infusion was July 18th, 2017. He will be going 3 more times, every 21 days, with visits in between for lab work and check ups. There is also a possiblity of radiation and more lumbar punctures to adminster more chemotherapy into his spinal fluid.

With Northwestern & University of Chicago keeping in touch, it has been determined that the auto immune drugs he has been on for 15 years has side effects of lymphoma.

Nine hours later after his first infusion, Adam's first words were "One down, three more to go!"

We are asking for funds to get through this difficult time. Your help will fund the rides back and forth to the hospital, groceries, co-pays, lab bills, medications, rent, living expensines, etc. Right now, we have close to $15,000 in medical bills.

Your support means so much to us! Your contributions whether big or small will not go unnoticed and spreading this message to friends and family who have the means to support will go a long way.

Please help spread the word! Thank you so much for your time and donation - it is greatly appreciated.

Love,
Adam & Cassie
