Adam Cox- if you know him, you know how amazing his heart is to take care of his family and friends. His joy is infectious and even through this current tragedy he is trying to smile and make others laugh.
7/31 @ 12:30a.m. Adam was in a severe semi truck collision. The highway patrolman said he has never seen an impact this bad, and him being alive is a true miracle.
His injuries included: two broken facial bones (zygomatic bone and maxillary bone on the right side of his face), double dislocated wrist (scaphoid wasn't even connected to the wrist and tore a ligament and three of his fingers were conjoined together out of place), multiple fractures in his right femur as well as an open fracture in the same femur right above his knee which that part of the femur is completely shattered, possible fractured left patella and left ankle. He also has a nice gash and burns on his left chin and a gash on the forehead across his whole right eyebrow. In surgery they were able to realign the scaphoid joint but not the ligament (that will be a later surgery this week), they placed three plates in his face to hold the two bones together as well as they could with what they had (some large chunks of the bone were completely shattered) will need another surgery to check in, in about 6+ months, and they placed a bar next to his femur as well as some pins to fuse and hold his femur together and give it some support but will need another surgery as well and extensive rehab to build it back up. We are now trying to get an oral surgeon to look at his teeth and check his mandible to make sure it's not fracture or broken, and to make sure his jaw is aligned.
Being an independant contractor and only source of income for his family of 5.....the timing of this recovery period is going to be vital for him to move forward to provide for his family once again. Medical bills will be substanial and this will not be an easy road. However GOD is good, and clearly has many adventures to still write for Adam and his beautiful family. The financial challenges will be great.
Many have asked what and how they can help. Prayer is always best, however if you are wanting to help support this recovery and be a blessing to them- you can do so through this GO Fund ME.
