our brother, Adam Simjee, slain hero

Our beloved cousin Adam Simjee died one week ago today. He was 22 years old rising senior at UCF, a kind and gentle soul, known for his humor and penchant for helping others. Prior to going back to school for their final year, they decided to take a short hiking trip, one of Adam's favorite pastimes.

The events that unfolded were a story from a dystopian nightmare scenario. Details of the horrifying events that took place can be seen on multiple news outlets as this disturbing story has gripped the nation can be found at https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/florida-man-slain-alabama-woman-pretending-stranded-motorist-rcna43916

Adam died of his injuries at the scene. He died protecting his loved ones. He died a hero.

Adam leaves behind his parents, younger sister, and long-time girlfriend. They are devastated and paralyzed by the news and now have to look towards the unsurmountable burden of funeral costs, legal fees, and the forthcoming murder trial. As one can imagine, this is an undue and unnatural strain on his family emotionally and financially and one that will be indelible for years to come.

We have created this fund to help Adam's family during this difficult time with various costs as they pick up the pieces after this tragedy. Proceeds will go directly to his immediate family, which includes his parents and his younger sister. Adam was a rock for his family, and with his absence, they will need all the help they can get.

Please donate to honor a life taken too soon due to senseless violence. There is also a separate fund organized to support Mikayla, Adam's girlfriend, who survived this horrific incident: https://www.gofundme.com/f/wkzvc9-for-adam

Rest in power, little brother - we will miss you. You were the best of us.
