From the Jessen Family:
After a lot of thought and processing I am ready to share with you all what’s going on with Adalynn because I know how S T R O N G the power of prayer can be, and we can use all the prayers we can get. At this point I am letting God take the wheel to help us navigate through these tough times. I’ve had lots of messages and calls and appreciate everyone reaching out. This incredibly hard to put out there, but this is the best way to let everyone know what’s going on.

Adalynn was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor yesterday, and due to the area of the brain it’s in surgery is not an option.
They are going to maybe let us go home later today, process it all and let this beautiful little girl get back to her farm. We will come back next week to evaluate a plan of action for the radiation and the next steps we will be taking.

Zach and I are trying our best to stay positive through this process, and trying to keep it together for Adalynn.

I want to share this story because mom gut is real, and my intuition led us here. So we have to be thankful for that. We’ve been holding on to the small bit of hope, and little bit of positives in this situation. A few weeks ago we noticed Adalynn’s head tilting to one side. We thought it was swimmers ear or a little ear infection from the pool. No fever, no other symptoms minus just being a little off. She did say she had some double vision Monday night she told us about when watching a movie with us in bed, and a minor headache. We went to our closest pediatrician in town on Tuesday and was told to monitor. Later that day symptoms started to change. I had a gut feeling her being “off” or not herself was something more. I called our other pediatrician that Adalynn has known since she was born for a second opinion before rushing her to Riley if unneeded. After seeing her she she sent us straight for CT where they confirmed the mass. We were told then to pack our bags, and head up to Riley. Due to getting here a few nights ago in the evening we had to wait for the MRI until yesterday since Adalynn had to be sedated.
Then waiting game was unreal, the whole experience feels like a nightmare. The MRI was a few hours long, neuro ophthalmologist checked her eyes while asleep and they got blood work.
The MRI confirmed the tumor. We got the news no parent should ever have to go through.
So now we’re here, patiently waiting to reunite Adalynn to her animals, her cats and her home until our next steps to this journey.

To our neighbors and friends thank you for all you’ve done. You have been so amazing through this all, we couldn’t do it without you.

All we can ask for at this point is for prayers and continued love and support for Addie Mae because if anyone knows her, she’s the smartest most beautiful human I’ve laid eyes on with so much life to live. It’s just not fair. Please just stay positive with us as we plan to push through and choose joy to bring as much happiness as we can for her right now.
As hard as it is, she would not want anyone to be sad.

We are gonna fight this battle no matter what, and WE WILL NOT GIVE UP.
