I’ve known Jenny for over twenty years now and we’ve seen each other through a lot. When Jenny introduced me to Jimmy, a sweet, fun-loving guy who absolutely adored her, it was clear she had found "the one."Jenny and Jimmy were married in a beautiful wedding in August of 2013.
Shortly after their walk down the aisle, Jimmy was diagnosed with colon cancer. Needless to say, these past four years have been extremely challenging for the couple. Jimmy, who has had multiple surgeries now to stop the spread of his cancer has seen his share of doctors, been through a number of hospitals and has undergone round after round of chemotherapy. He has been evaluated for possible cancer fighting experimental treatments to no avail. Jimmy turned 40 this year.
Through it all, my dear friend Jenny has been by his side, working a full-time job, commuting for hours each day to and from work, researching, learning and taking life into their hands. She has perfected healthy eating, put her all into finding the right doctors and treatments for her husband and has been an amazing wife. She hasn’t complained, been careless or resentful. Not because she can’t, she can, and we’d all understand, but because she doesn’t find time for such things.
As Jimmy enters a new phase in his treatments, he will undergo processes and procedures not covered by the couple's medical insurance. For this reason, I am creating this campaign.
For Jenny, my oldest friend… I wish this fundraiser was for the honeymoon you never had, but it’s not, and that’s okay. Because you have taught me, and many others that the most important time is NOW. You have not only been a beacon of hope to your husband but have shown us what it means to live with optimism, gratitude, patience and a willingness to give everything you’ve got for someone you love.
Jenny and Jimmy will receive the amount shown to help supplement the medical bills incurred by the new VitC IV and radiation treatments he will undergo to slow down the rapid growth of cancer he is fighting against.
