Donations for this event will go toward offering adequate honorariums (especially to our guest musicians, the primary members do not typically receive an honorarium) for this event and those in the future. Any money left beyond that goes to our general fund to be used for miscellaneous music and concert expenses. Over all, donations are used to facilitate our sharing beautiful music with our community.
We give our heartiest thanks to any and all who have chosen to donate to our music fund and for all who support us in every way!
May you be abundantly blessed!
About Ad Lucem:
Ad Lucem is a small ensemble consisting primarily of four ladies: Bev Ratajak (pianist, organist & soprano), Alison Seeber (soprano), Julie Tourtellotte (soprano) and Laura Yeates (alto), but often featuring other guest artists as the music calls for it. The name, "Ad Lucem", is Latin for "toward the light" and meant to reflect their desire to give experiences through music that bring us all closer to our source of spiritual light. They hope to delight and inspire their audience with diverse programs of music (both sacred and secular) which include works by local composers. Ad Lucem is set apart by the skillful union of the rare musical quality and beauty each performer contributes, creating a truly unique and spiritual listening experience!
About this particular event:
Though we have done different concerts at other times of the year as well, Ad Lucem began the tradition of presenting a concert and carol sing at Saint Paul Catholic Church starting Christmas of 2012. We have featured many excellent musicians and local composers and an abundance of beautiful and moving music since then! Although we are sorely disappointed that we are not able to offer this as an in person event this year, we wanted to still offer it any way we could. Unfortunately, most of our primary members (Bev Ratajak, Laura Yeates, Julie Tourtellotte and Jeremy Arrant) are not able to perform with us this year. But, fortunately (in line with our practice of bringing in more musicians when needed), other wonderful musicians (Mary Jo Hettwer, Matthew Edmonds and Connor Boring-Mackie) have come together with those of us who are left (Alison Seeber, John Seeber, Andrew Seeber, Michelle Golan and Annie Appleton) to put together an abbreviated program, including favorite Christmas carols, a few scriptural and inspirational readings and even a few favorite songs from past performances.
We hope that, though it could never take the place of what we would experience with the in-person event, this live-stream performance can still provide our loved ones and our whole community with a source of beauty and inspiration in preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ into our world and our hearts... the celebration of Christmas!
