Acupunctuur voor Verstopte Neus bij AR

Hoi allemaal,

Ik ben Janneke Vermeulen, Acupuncturist-Fysiotherapeut, werkzaam in eigen praktijk Mermaid Medicine® in Den Haag (lid NVA en KNGF) en momenteel PhD kandidaat aan Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in Nanjing te China.

Om mijn PhD studie af te kunnen ronden, ga ik wetenschappelijk onderzoek doen (een Randomized Controlled Trial [RCT]): 'Acupunctuur voor Verstopte Neus bij Allergische Rhinitis' (denk aan hooikoorts, allergie voor katten, honden, huisstofmijt). 30% van de Nederlanders heeft hier last van en wereldwijd meer dan 500 miljoen mensen.

Allergische rhinitis heeft negatieve invloed op de kwaliteit van leven (nadelig effect op slaap, concentratie, etc.) en vergroot de kans op infectie met het coronavirus. Medicatiegebruik is niet gewenst (bijwerkingen, hoge medische kosten) en er zijn indirecte economische kosten door productieverlaging. Dus: heel zinvol om te onderzoeken wat acupunctuur hierbij kan betekenen. De effecten van een 6-weken-durend acupunctuur-behandelprotocol zullen worden gemeten en vergeleken met een algemeen gebruikte neusspray. Totaal zullen er 62 deelnemers voor nodig zijn (31 deelnemers in elke behandelgroep).

Om dit onderzoek uit te kunnen voeren heb ik sponsors nodig daar er veel kosten gemaakt zullen worden (o.a. toetsing medisch-ethische commissie, verzekering deelnemers, inhuren statisticus, onafhankelijke medische expert en arts die de metingen gaat doen, aanschaffen testmateriaal, acupunctuurnaalden, medicatie, etc.).

De trial is officieel geregistreerd bij ClinicalTrials.Gov in de USA en de CCMO in Nederland (Acupuncture for Nasal Congestion in Allergic Rhinitis: An Open-Label, Randomized, Monocenter Trial [ANCAR Trial]).

I am Janneke Vermeulen, Acupuncturist-Physiotherapist, having my own practice Mermaid Medicine® in The Hague, the Netherlands (member NVA-KNGF) and currently PhD candidate at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in China.

To finish my PhD program, I will perform a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT): 'Acupuncture for Nasal Congestion in Allergic Rhinitis'. It concerns a 6-weeks trial in which acupuncture will be compared with a commonly used nasal spray (totally 62 participants are needed). 30% of the Dutch inhabitants suffer from allergic rhinitis and more than 500 million people worldwide.

Allergic rhinitis negatively affects the quality of life (sleep, concentration etc. ) and increases the risk of contamination with the coronavirus. Medication is not desired because of its side effects, high medical costs and indirect economic costs due to productivity decrease. So, without doubt, my research has social importance.

To perform this trial many costs will be made such as examination medical-ethics committee, insurance of the participants, hiring a statistician, an independent medical expert and a physician who will do the measurements, purchasing test material, acupuncture needles, medication, etc.
