Act 4 Angela

Donation protected

In 2018, at the age of 43, our lovely Angela was diagnosed with bowel cancer.  She soon learned that her cancer had spread to the liver and her case was thus designated as “Stage 4.”  She was given the terrifying news that, with chemotherapy, she may only have 6 to 12 months to live.

As any of us who know Angela can attest, she would NOT accept that news as a defeat.  With the same strong determination and firm will that enabled her years of success helping others as a finance manager and fundraiser in the charitable sector, she undertook the long journey to her own recovery.
After several rounds of chemotherapy, many surgeries, various lifestyle changes, and radiotherapy, Angela has come very far and has shown great improvement but is not cured.Throughout it all, she has continued to exhibit her characteristic zeal for life and is still fighting to be cancer-free.  She has recently experienced a bit of a setback when an attempted surgery revealed that a tumour had developed on an artery in her liver, altering the planned course of treatment.

Angela has recently learned that she may qualify for an uncommon treatment involving partial liver transplant, which requires a living donor.  She is in communication with a well-respected doctor in America who has performed a number of these surgeries.  Unfortunately, as the procedure is not yet performed in the UK, it is not covered by the NHS.

We are fundraising for Angela in the hope that she will be able to receive this life-saving surgery and so that she may undertake any other treatments that may help her win her war against cancer.

We need to raise a massive amount of pounds fast to ensure Angela can receive this ground-breaking surgery in the USA while she is well enough to do so!

Every donation no matter how small can help us reach our target and save Angela’s life! We would greatly appreciate your support!

Any funds received that are not used after Angela is cancer-free will be used to help other patients needing treatment or given to cancer charities.

Act 4 Angela Team x

Hello everyone.  I am Nevelyn Renee McCart, aka “Angela’s Mum.”

I would direct readers of this blurb to Angela’s Story on the Act 4 Angela website www.Act4Angela.org as written by Angela herself for an accurate account of dates and times regarding her diagnosis of Stage 4 Bowel Cancer by medical professionals during March 2018 and subsequent treatments to keep this cancer at bay, always hopeful of eventually finding a cure.  I will say, however, that the impact of discovery that my child has tumours and cancer cells within her body which can destroy her way of life and could cause her early death has, and always will, cause me pain and grief over the unfairness of it all.

I recognise that Angela is not alone in this struggle — there are many others with cancer and other terminal diseases fighting to make sense of what has happened to them and who are living in hope of finding a cure.  I feel for them, but Angela is my lovely daughter, given to me to care for and love on July 24, 1974.  So my appeal to you today is for her.  Please give in whatever way you can to support the Act 4 Angela cause which has been set up by family members and friends to find a cure for Angela.

When times get rough (and there have been quite a few) during this fight, Angela rises from the depressive gloom and doom thrown at her.  She becomes strong again and offers me, her mother, a ray of hope.  She has told me, over and over again, “every case is different, my case is unique, I will survive.”

Angela is a blessed life given to Planet Earth.  Please join us in helping Angela find a cure for this terrible disease which has already taken away so much joy from her life.

Thank you.

Angela’s Mum - Renee x
