Support the ACRP Ride for Diversity: A Road Trip for a Reason

What — Last year, more than 100 sponsors came together to fund the first-ever ACRP Ride for Diversity, a road trip for a reason—to raise funds for supporting the development of a diverse and research-ready workforce. Together, we raised almost $25,000!

Why — Research shows that the more diverse our clinical trial workforce, the more diverse clinical trial participation. Clinical studies need to reflect our real world population—and a more diverse clinical research staff is an important way to make this change happen!

2022 Goal — This year, our team has set a goal of $50,000. We can achieve this with your help! Your donation will support the ACRP Workforce Development program called Ready, Set, Clinical Research™!

Who It Helps — 100% of ACRP Ride for Diversity donations are allocated for scholarships for entry-level clinical research professionals’ growth and development — through attendance at the ACRP annual conference, for example.

Thank You to Our Sponsors!

Breakaway Sponsors ($10,000+)

Velocity Clinical Research | Meridian Clinical Research | Elligo Health Research | Pfizer Inc

Platinum Sponsors ($5,000 - $9,999)

Medrio

Silver Sponsors ($1,000 - $2,499)

Sergio Armani | CenExel Clinical Research | DM Clinical Research | Javara | Del Smith (Acclinate ) | Leigh Burgess (Bold Industries Group )

Bronze Sponsors ($500 - $999)

Pharma Operations LLC | Recherche Transformation Rapide LLC | Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center – Jefferson Health | Christine Senn | Deborah Driscoll | Stylianos Mavrakis | Jennifer Sheller | R’Kes Starling | Greenphire | Amy Kelley | Carmela Shabazz | Dawn Barnes-Davis

Peloton Club Sponsors ($1 - $499)

Mo Ali | Adrelia Allen | Ronda Bailey | Stacey Banks | Kara Bastarache | Paul Below | Anne Blanchard | Christina Brennan | Shann Bruflodt | Rinna Burns | Maria Ana Canaya | Tom Closson | Danielle Coe | Joe Coffie | Frank Conte | Simon Corman | Gary Cramer | Aaron Greenfield | Laverna Davila | Eric Delente | Madison Driggers | Rick Fisher | Blandy Fisher | Melissa Fuino | Jordan Gaddis | Jeremy Glunt | Steven Gonzalez | Greater Gift | Glenda Guest | Christina Hardy | Jeanne Hecht | Christy Herz | Lutheria Hollis | Cynthia Holmes | Chris Komelasky | James Kremidas | Susan Landis | Jamie Langley | Mark Lysek | Caitlin Mackey | Sonya Martin | Michelle Metry | Alana Miller | Anne Marie Molster | David Morin | Virginia Nido | Coretta Olieberg | Jim Park | Silvia Park | Stephanie Pyle | Amy Randall-Ray | Matthew Sapurstein | Alexandra Shilo | Sean Soth | Christele Strowder | Don Tinker | Erin Williams | Liz Willock | Steven Ziemba

“ACRP’s vision is that clinical research is performed ethically, responsibly, and professionally everywhere in the world, and is committed to raising clinical research standards and accelerating the careers of people of all walks of life. It is important that ACRP take a stance in today’s society to push organizations conducting clinical trials to diversify their workforce because it is good for science, but more importantly because it’s good for mankind.”

“Diversity in clinical trials is more important than ever as we grow and work together as a society to break down barriers that have held us back for decades. In clinical research, we need to make sure we have greater diversity in the workforce – the clinicians, nurses, and research staff who are face-to-face with potential patients – to fully realize our potential and to safely and ethically deliver new treatments to those in need.”

Black Americans represent more than 13% of the U.S. population, but only 5% of clinical trial participants. The disparity is even greater for those of Hispanic or Latino origin, who represent 18% of the U.S.

FDA studies show stark disparities in clinical trial participation rates among Black patients and dramatic variation by therapeutic area. For instance, Black patients represented <3% of patients enrolled in clinical trials for cardiovascular and oncology diseases but accounted for 24% of those enrolled in studies for psychiatric disorders.

New research from the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development shows a statistically significant relationship between site staff diversity and patient diversity.
