ACME Robotics Worlds Funding

Donation protected
UPDATE:

After a strong performance at the Northern California Regional Championship ACME is advancing to the FIRST World Championship in Houston Texas for the second year in a row! ACME is one of only eight teams to qualify for Worlds in all of Northern California and we are excited to represent Nevada County for a second time at this prestigious event.

We are updating our fundraising goals as we now need to raise funds to cover the additional expenses associated with going to Worlds, which include competition entry fees and shipping costs for getting our robot and tools to Houston as well as travel costs for team members.

For more details, please see the Updates tab and thank you again for your support as ACME seeks to raise awareness of STEM education opportunities in Nevada County.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a very successful season last year, ACME Robotics is ready to compete in the 2018-2019 FIRST Tech Challenge program! For the first time ever, there are now two FTC teams in Nevada County, as we have started a sister team, #14492 ARES Robotics.

For those unfamiliar with us, we’re a community robotics program from Nevada County, California, composed of two teams of eight students each, as well as four mentors. We compete through an international organization devoted to promoting robotics and STEM education called FIRST. We’re part of the FIRST Tech Challenge league targeted at students in grades 7-12. Our season begins each September when the challenge for the year is released. If you’re curious about the game for this season, check out the Rover Ruckus animation.

We are now raising funds to support both teams as we design and build our robots to compete this season. ACME has already competed at an early season tournament back in November, where we were honored to win the prestigious Inspire Award, which qualified us for the Northern California regional championship in February. Our primary goal is to do well enough there to earn a spot in the World Championship tournament in April for the second year in a row. Of course we would also love to defend our NorCal title, as we were on the winning alliance and won the Inspire Award at the championship last season. ARES, meanwhile, had a great showing at their first ever tournament, and will compete in two more qualifiers in January as they seek to qualify for NorCals in their rookie year.

All funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards funding ACME and ARES Robotics teams this season. Specifically, the funds will be used for
- team registrations ($550)
- competition fees ($1,550)
- parts for the robots ($3,000)
- tools that will be shared by both teams ($450)
- Rover Ruckus practice field ($450)

All funds are received by the teams and disbursed through the team financial accounting system. Parent/Treasurer/Parent Advisory Council Chairperson, Alicia Brott, will receive the funds and then deposit them into the ACME account for ACME and ARES approved expenses. Please contact us through our website if you have any questions.

As a community program, we don’t get funding from any school. This makes community donations even more important. We’re very grateful for your continued support over the years; our success wouldn’t be possible without you all. Thank you for supporting STEM education in Nevada County!
