Village Schools in Petauke, Zambia

Our next trip to Africa will be in early September  to teach the village teachers  who have no training and have only 12th grade education.  They earn about $20 per month and they lack  teaching methods and teaching strategies.  The teachers eagerly asked us to provide training for them.  I can't even imagine facing 70-80 little eager faces looking at a teacher without knowing even the hint of what to do for organization, or for motivation, or  how to plan, or even how to prioritize what gets taught.   I witnessed teachers with NO teaching guides,  pencils,  chalkboards, desks,  paper, nor plumbing or electricity.  I witnessed children with hungry tummies.    We witnessed elderly ladies  gathered in case there was any porridge left after the student bowls were poured.  Bowls are brought from home and fingers  used since  spoons are scarce.  Village adults volunteer to cook over the open fire boiling the water and stirring the meal for porridge.  The village men are also busy making bricks so that they can someday build a building to be used for school five days and used as a church on Sunday.

September is around the corner and while   over 200 books have been gathered for literacy I will be training 36 teachers (2 each from 18 village schools) so we need more.  That number won't go very far.   I want to take at least two teachers from the states to help with the instruction and the visiting of schools.  My dream is BIG.  Some people have said since we returned " at least those poor children don't know any difference."  And I agree, they don't.  But  we know the difference!  I know what we have in the USA so now I will always want to TRY to make a difference one student, one teacher, one village school at a time.
My funding request idea came this weekend as a FB message idea from a good friend.   I have Godly volunteers with a desire to go and to serve but they need help with airfare (more than $2,000 per person). They have not had time to save for this trip. When that amount is raised I have school supply needs/dreams.   I will need to ship school supplies and books as I am gathering more than we can take in extra bags at the airport.  We will assist in making chalkboards for every school when we arrive in Zambia ($30 times 18 schools)  The men volunteers will help villages cut logs for students to sit on as they learn.  I want to put a Zambia curriculum guide in each of the teachers hands.   You get the picture!  Village schools can't survive without outside support.
Many of my Facebook friends have already become involved in helping me help the children I met in the village. Jericho Roads Ministries is the organization that Ronny has been involved with for years  and for years has collected funds at our Jucys locations for Bible distribution.  On the  Zambia trip our group often said  that  "feeding the young villagers helps them for a day", "educating them helps them for a life", and "evangelism offers  eternity."
We pay for all of our own expenses. Every voluteer who makes these trips is expected to pay all of their expenses (air, food)
If you have a desire to help with funding, please use this fundme site or if you prefer a non-profit site send a donation to Jericho Roads Ministries' website -www.jerichoroad.org    and note EDUCATION on the donation. No donation is too small.  $20 pays a teacher for a month  $25 feeds the children at school for a month  Have any suggestion or ideas for me once we arrive and start training?  I would appreciate all future FB private suggestions and messages as well. I am hearing from FB friends from all over the USA wanting to help in some way. LOVE IT!
Please help US help THEM!  Thanking you in advance for anything God leads you to give and for the many prayers for our next journey.
