ACL surgery/recovery for Becky Jo

Donation protected

That's the impressive job done by the ER team at Burning Man in an effort to immobilize my knee. They did good work, I was able to stay for 3 more days, and I'm actually still using the crutches too! Now that I'm home and have had a chance to go get a MRI it turns out that after losing my balance on a chopper style bicycle that I have very badly injured my right knee.

I have "a complex tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus with extension to the inferior articular surface", "a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament", and a "severe sprain of my medial collateral ligament". It has to be a month before I can even schedule surgery while they let the swelling subside. I have to put absolutely zero pressure on it, which severely limits my ability to function.  I will likely be unable to work until December due to recovery time and physical therapy.

I am incredibly blessed to be surrounded by loving and helpful friends and family who have made this bad situation much easier for me, here at home and in California and Nevada. I can't thank all of you enough.

I'm also lucky to have decent insurance and the medical bills side of this terrible accident aren't going to be overwhelming. I am tremendously grateful for this fact.

However, I do need help and am in trouble without it. This accident meant I had to cancel my work trip to Alaska, which is a financial hit for me and before understanding how bad this injury was I was thinking I was going to just tighten my belt and try to get through it. Learning that I'm going to be be unable to work until December is devastating. Despite all my mother's wise and frequent advice to have 3 months of living expenses saved, I have failed to do so. Once I'm on my feet and caught up, doing so jumps to the top of my priority list.

Until then, I am asking for any financial help any of you kind souls who have it to share are able to spare. I hate to do it but I don't know what else I can do. Thank you very much.
