Ace's Eden Non Profit Campaign

I will summarize by saying I have experienced pain many times in my life.  I lost my biological mother very early in childhood. Later in adulthood, I lost the mother who took care of me with pain in my heart. Many years and three kids later, I gave birth to my fourth child, Ace Unice McLaughlin- Richardson on November 19th, 2019. I was past my EDD, so I was able to handpick my baby's induction(birth) date. I choose this date because my other children had the same symmetry in their birth dates (11/11/08, 07/15/15, 01/18/18, 11/19/19). I can't even break down the details of the day... but I will say. I'll never be the same. I went back and forth to Nicklaus Children's Hospital where I begged at my baby feet for days... then weeks..until he passed on December 12, 2019. My living, breathing baby never woke up. You begin to blame yourself. You relive the moments again in your head. Forever. We were struggling as a family and not prepared for that loss. I'm sharing my story because it's real. Not because I require sympathy or attention but because you may be hurting too or know someone who's hurting. I know personally what it's like to need someone, but you don't have anyone. Or you do have someone but they don't know how it feels so you don't even want to burden them with all that pain. You never overcome trauma, you just learn to cope. It's a process that has no expiration date. You don't go back to normal, you're a new person. I'm passionate about Ace's Eden because I believe it can be a place to help those who require support in a place where people can relate.
Ace's Eden is our initiative to provide ongoing support for those who may be experiencing grief, especially in the black community. Many families don't have time to prepare in the event of an emergency, like the death of a loved one. Most importantly, many families of color lack wealth, resources, or support during the times where their mental health is most fragile. Ace's Eden will be a safe space to heal and find support.

Some of my short term goals include, but are not limited to:
Creating a network of healing families that can offer empathy and support to a family experiencing a recent loss of an immediate loved one.

Host virtual fundraisers for families in need of financial support during the sudden loss of an immediate loved one.

Host events to raise awareness of mental health in the black community and preventative methods for anxiety, stress, or depression. Provide mental health connections for those experiencing a recent loss of an immediate loved one.

Host events to provide families with information on how to attain Full Term Life Insurance and why it's important. Partner with black-owned life insurance companies. Partner with employers of black-owned businesses to get their employees covered.

Host free weekly classes/creative groups for healing families focusing on relationship building and therapy. (arts, crafting, physical therapy, gardening, book club)

Some of my long term goals include but are not limited to:

Creating " Ace's Place",  a healing retreat for families who experienced a recent death of an immediate loved one. This space is intended to find relief and engage in family-centered activities to help them “feel like a family" again. I will elaborate on this project as Ace's Eden grows and becomes a registered NPO.  First, we must plan. Then I will share. Then we raise money.

Create a memorial for our network of families who have lost an immediate loved one. This will also be located on Ace's place however, we will begin the rock garden memorial program to raise money for "Ace's Place".

I'm hoping to first use funds to make Ace's Eden a registered Non-profit, file for articles of incorporation, and plan for hosting our first annual event, Ace Day. We have hopes of continuing to grow. These are the first priority so you may claim your donations. I look forward to serving my community in the best way I know can. This project is in honor of my baby Ace. Thank you in advance for your ongoing support.
