Accident Recovery Fund for Billy MacDonald
On June 27, a tragic accident resulted in our beloved brother William (Billy) MacDonald being catastrophically injured. Always the last to ask for help, we are now doing it for him.
At 32 years old Billy is the kind of guy that keeps his head down and gets the job done. A big kid at heart, Billy is also a loving and attentive father to two young children at home, Wesley and Ari. He is a big influence in the lives of his nieces and nephews and is a role model to many.
Wesley and Ari are missing their hikes, bike rides, story books, and morning porridge with their Daddy. It’s hard for them to understand what is going on.
A gorgeous day in June seemed like a right time to take a much earned break and enjoy friends, fun, sun. Details of the accident are still unknown but from what we understand, Billy and his friend were riding an ATV and something went very wrong. The side-by-side rolled and the cage crushed along with them. His body is in bad shape - broken neck, clavicle, shoulder, all ribs on one side, punctured lung, broken wrist, entire right hand, a fractured leg, significant tissue damage, deep tissue bruising and a traumatic head injury. He is out of his medically induced coma and is currently in the ICU. Due to covid restrictions, he not allowed visitors including his kids. Billy is now awake but can hardly speak and one of his first concerns was his ability to provide for his family. At this time we are unsure of his ability to fully recover or work in his field anytime soon. Additionally, insurance support sounds dim.
With the children’s mother now trying to pick up extra shifts at her part time job, childcare costs have significantly increased for her.
We know covid has been financially difficult for many so we would be overwhelmingly appreciative if you would consider donating to Billy and his young family Sarah, Aurelia and Wesley to help with his hopeful recovery during this unknown time.
We thank everyone for their help thus far, from the first responders and helicopter crew, to the nurses and doctors at the hospital and the many people in between.
