It's been a tough time for people working in the arts. As COVID-19 restrictions begin to lift, more and more employment opportunities are opening up for people whose industry was devastated by the pandemic. Ours was the first industry to go down, and we are the last to recover. However, the recovery is slow, and many people working in the arts are still under-waged and living paycheck to paycheck.
Amidst this chaos, life continues. And for some, that means painful and sudden tragedies that leave them scrambling to make due on top of the already difficult circumstances we've all endured for the past two years. One of those people is a colleague who wishes to remain anonymous. They've been met with a tragedy that means their current living situation is no longer safe, and they also need access to treatment and mental health resources.
We are looking to secure funds to secure safe housing, moving costs, and access to treatment. We are looking for the funds specifically for:
- renting a moving van
- their first month's rent while they search for a subletter
- fees relating to terminating services (internet)
- taking time off work in order to move to another city
- accessing treatment for mental health
The tragedy this person has experienced is not easy, and won't be fixed quickly. However, with your help, we can provide emergency funds to get them started on the right foot towards recovery.
On behalf of myself and the person receiving the donations, our deepest thanks.
