Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (HSLC) welcomes all individuals into its community. This means we create an affirming environment which includes our services and programming that is accessible to all.
Our continued outreach into the community has increased the day to day use in the church within our congregation and we’ve seen an increase in use from other community groups.
To create a more welcoming, barrier free environment, Holy Spirit is planning to install push button entrances and undergo a washroom renovation. The push button entrances would provide easy accessibility to all (strollers, wheel chairs, individuals with mobility issues etc.) The accessible and gender neutral washrooms would allow use by all when using the facility.
These two upgrades actively demonstrate our belief that we want an inclusive and accessible facility for all.
THE ASK:
Holy Spirit Lutheran Church has been awarded $54,000 from the Government of Alberta Community Facility Enhancement Grant to complete the above upgrades. However, in order to do this, we must come up with the other $54,000. We have a variety of strategies to accomplish this goal and Go Fund Me is one area.
We hope to raise $10,000 from supporters (and community members) of HSLC and its newly improved accessible environment. In the event that this project does not go forward, all monies raised will be used towards inclusion.
