Académie de St Jean du Sud

The basic education system in St Jean du Sud is in a state of crisis where the classrooms are overcrowded; textbooks and furniture are debilitated; and the students in cross-national exam are underperforming.  So, a group of parents and teachers got together to find a solution.  We formed Académie de St Jean du Sud school 5 years ago.

Located in St Jean du Sud, a rural village in Southern Haiti where services, supplies and communication lines with the urban center are scarce. The school enrolls a total of 98 children starting at the age of 2 - 8, and we have 12 teachers who teach English, French, Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education and Religion.

Since the school was founded, enrollment has grown over 200%.  We have had to turn away some of the children because we have run out of classrooms space for them.  Currently, Académie de St Jean du Sud offer classes up to 3rd grade level, and we would like to take the school up to 6th grade for the 2[phone redacted] school year.  However, we don't have the funds for it .

This is where you can help us.  We are seeking donors to help with this great cause so that these children can remain in Académie de St Jean du Sud and we can expand our classrooms.  Please help us build our school for a better future for the children, a necessity for a sustainable social and economic development.
