Air Conditioning for Jake & Hilary

I was recently at a Bridgeway gathering with Jake sharing prayer requests at a round table. When Jake's turn came, he prefaced his request with, "I know this is going to sound silly, but..." and shared that his home does not have working air conditioning. He told hilarous stories about the things he and Hilary did last summer to try to stay cool in the 100+ degree heat. He asked us to pray for a miracle because there was simply no way they could come up with enough money to get air conditioning but needed to figure out some way to make sure last summer didn't repeat itself. Immediately after sharing, he went right in to a moment of thankfulness. He talked about how, though his house is almost 100 years old, he is so thankful it is theirs. And that when problems with the house come up, he is "so thankful they are our problems." I was so moved by his content and thankful heart.
By the next morning, it was clear to me that God wanted me to do something about Jake's situation...he wanted to use this "silly" thing (according to Jake) as a vehicle. A vehicle to:
- Bless Jake and Hilary and demonstrate our love for them.
- Unify our team. To give us all an opportunity to see God move as we come together to rally our gifts and resources.
- Increase our faith through answered prayer.
- Glorify God through our willingness to sacrifice for the sake of encouraging our brother & sister.
...all this "fruit" as the result of a broken air conditioner in an old house. It amazes me how God works!
Anna Busch, one of our amazing vocalists, has stepped forward with her husband Dave (who does HVAC for a living, how cool!). They have offered to do the job at a major discount. Dave has completed the A/C assessment of the Owen's home and priced the job at around $6500--what would normally cost $8000 to $10,000!! A HUGE thank you to the Busch family for such a generous offering!!
It is super important that we keep this effort (and GoFundMe link) between worship team members for now. My heart is for us as a team to rally around the Owens and love on them! If you are able to give, any amount you give will bless them, I am certain.
