Abused/Abandoned Mom - Car Repairs

Donation protected
Mary Jane is a 50 year old woman in Temecula who has survived a recent suicide attempt, is a single mother of young adults recently out of college, and has post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from her abusive ex-husband. She contacted me in pain, responding to a survey sent out about establishing an Ordinariate parish in her area, saying:

"I called out to you, my Catholic Church, in my most time of need. I have a traumatic brain injury, was abused by my husband, and thrown onto the streets and YOU DID NOT EVEN HELP ME. I reached out to [Name of Parish Removed] to NO AVAIL. And now you want me to answer your survey????? As far as I am concerned the Catholic Church cares NOTHING for its Parishioners. You only care about being the richest organization on EARTH, My The Lord God Have Mercy in the name Of St Peter and the other Apostles for your Atrocities against YOUR VERY OWN FLOCK.!"

Since then, we've talked and she told me she now attends a non-Catholic Church as the parish would not even return her phone calls much less help her with an annulment. I explained to her that part of the mission of the Ordinariate is to bring people back to the Church and try - in our own meager way (for we too are very poor) - to meet the needs that dioceses can or will not.

What she needs immediately: to get $1500 for car repairs so she can not worry about getting groceries and making doctors appointments.

Why you should help: to show her the Catholic Church cares for the needy, both materially and spiritually. That we can demonstrate that people are not mere numbers on role sheets or just givers in the pews, but are precious souls and children of God.

How does the Catholic Church claim "that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation" (CCC 846) but ignore her children most in need? I'm here to say the Church will respond to this child of God in need! If you're Catholic and are reading this, please give what you can to help.

"Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours."
