Abuela Lucy of Anasco, Puerto Rico

Donation protected
Lucy has lived in Puerto Rico for most of her life. Lucy currently takes care of her Abuela Mari who has Alzheimer's. Abuela Mari can hardly walk and needs to have someone to be with her at all times.

When Hurricane Maria tore through Puerto Rico, it left a path of devastation. This was the strongest storm to hit Puerto Rico in the last 80 years.

Lucy lives in a remote part of the island where there is limited access to necessities. The storm caused the access paths to her home to be blocked because of mud slides and massive tree destruction. Pannels of her roof were torn away as the hurricane passed.  She grows a lot of her own food and the storm destroyed her garden. It is estimated that her part of the island will not have power restored for a few months. Currently she has to walk over a mile to get water from a spring, as this is the only source of fresh water that they have.

We are raising money to both fix her home and send a few people down to Puerto Rico to help clear a path to her home. We are also planning on purchasing a solar kit. This is a battery pack and a few solar panels.

We are also trying to raise enough money to get her a solar pannel and install a well on her property so she can have fresh water.

Lucy is my mother in-law. I am planning on delivering the items myself in the next few weeks.

Thank you.
