Able's Top Surgery Fund - May 30, 2025

My name is Able Dominguez and I am a hispanic trans man from Texas.

I have been looking forward to getting top surgery for as long as I can remember but it always felt like a far off and unachievable dream. This has been a long journey for me but now I am finally at a spot in life where I can prioritize my transition.

However, with the onslaught of executive orders aimed at striping rights and protections from trans people at the federal level and the anti-trans legislation being proposed in Texas, I fear that I may lose the opportunity to seek gender-affirming care altogether.

I have decided to move forward with Dr. Ashley De Leon at the Crane Center in Austin TX. She has wonderful results and has a lot of experience working with bigger people, which was a necessity for me.

I never really thought that this day would come but I have finally secured a surgery date of May 30th! This date is much sooner than I even considered that I would get scheduled for. Because of this, I am terrified that I will not be able to save enough to cover the cost of the procedure, or the extra funds needed to pay rent and live off of while recovering, in time.

If I am not able to raise the funds needed by May 30th, I will not be able to have the procedure. This date is now fast approaching and I’m asking for your help & relying on this campaign to make this dream possible!

This surgery will be life altering for me. I have needed this for years and have been mentally and physically suffering because of it. I have a large chest and it is extremely difficult to bind. In order to feel safe leaving my apartment, I have to wear at least 2 binders at all times. I typically bind for over 10-12 hours a day which has caused permanent damage to my back and ribs over time.

If I am able to raise the funds for top surgery, it will be so much more than just a physical weight off my chest. I will finally be able to breathe. I won’t have to constantly worry about my safety. I will be able to truly live my life.

Anything you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated! Funds raised will go towards the cost of surgery, hospital fees, post-op recovery supplies, and supplementing lost income to pay for rent and necessities over the weeks that I will have to be out of work for recovery.
