Back to a normal life

So sometimes it feels like we are in over our head. Yep we took on this big family on our own accord. But we did so during better times and since Shawn’s days at Borders a consistent paycheck (meaning one that is regular and big enough) has been scarce. Sure we’ve made some bad decisions along the way but all you can do is slap your hands and make a new plan for the future. So Shawn has given up his dream of working in the field of his studies and went back to a solid decent paying retail job.

But the lack of a regular paycheck since closing our bookstore in January has taken a toll. We are about to be evicted as we are behind on our rent. We are close to losing the car which holds the whole family because we are behind on payments.

Of course we are ashamed and embarrassed. Asking anyone for help is not fun or something we really want to do. However, if we are being proactive I think that any of our friends would have said “why didn’t you let me know” “or why didn’t you ask for help” when they find out we don’t have a place to live.

We are trying to raise the funds to catch up our rent and pay a few bills forward so that it is easier to get ahead when the regular paychecks start coming in. If you can help here, great. If you can’t help but know someone who would have liked to help such wonderful kids but couldn’t then pass it on to them. Or if you can help in other ways please contact me.

I have not mentioned this to Shawn because he was opposed to doing this. But I see the stress that he is under and I know how feels that he has let his family down. He and I are both proud, but sometimes you have to put that pride aside for the better good.
