Abigail's Adoption & Beyond
Donation protected
JOYOUS DAY. July 24, 2018. After 2 years of waiting on the adoption process, and only one week with our new agency, Kids First, we were informed that our profile was matched with a couple who was making an adoption plan for their unborn little girl.
We began our open adoption process just 90 minutes after receiving that phone call. We met the birth parents and instantly bonded. The Baby’s due date was September 20th, but the pregnancy was not expected to go to term. After several bouts with preterm labor, high blood pressure and low amniotic fluid, Abigail Emma was born on Monday, August 13, 2018, by C Section, 6 weeks early. She came into the world at 3# 13oz, and a fighter from the beginning.
As her adoptive parents, we have been with her from the very beginning. We are bonding with skin to skin contact and reading her stories so she begins to know our voices. The nurses let us change her diapers and take her temperature during every assessment.
Being premature and low birth weight, Abigail will be staying in the NICU for a while. Not only are the medical bills going to be large, but the expenses that go along with being at the hospital with her are adding up. As some of you know, we were in the process of moving near Laweranceburg, Indiana, when we got the call that our birth mom was in premature labor. So that leaves us with no house of our own in the Indianapolis area.
In addition, we are committed to giving Abigail the best possible nourishment we can, which is Breast Milk. We are using a supplemental nursing system to enhance the bonding process, but that requires breast milk. We are able to purchase breast milk from the milk bank, but that is also expensive.
All of this and more are our reasons for humbly asking for your help, both financially and in prayer. Any donations beyond these expenses will go toward making Abby a big sister! God bless you!
