May 11th update on Abigail: On May 2nd, my beautiful daughter Abigail gained her wings. She battled a short, tough fight with a very rare and aggressive cancer, and she was so brave and courageous. Your continued contributions helps to support funding towards her celebration of life, finalizing her estate, and helping to support me with the bereavement process while I take time off work. Abigail’s celebration of life will be held on Friday June 2nd, at the Harvest Centre located at Westerner Park, from 2-4pm, doors open at 1pm. Please dress in colour, bring a sunflower and join us in the celebration of this amazing young lady who touched the lives of many, many people.
April 21st Update on diagnosis from the original post: Given Abigail's symptoms and original CT scans, we had a variety of doctors who stated they were 99% sure that Abigail had Lymphoma. Upon biopsy testing, Abigail has been diagnosed with NUT carcinoma, which is a rare form of cancer that can form anywhere in the body, but often forms along the midline structures (head, neck or lungs), her cancer is pulmonary.
This changes the course of direction regarding her treatments and now involves a variety of specialists to review her case. The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, is a cancer clinic that is the hub for all things NUT. We are in the process of hiring a thoracic oncologist from DFCI who can help guide Abigail's local oncologist with the best course of treatments available based on their research. We are also ordering a Next generation sequencing (NGS) test which is a DNA sequencing technology that has revolutionized genomic research. NGS has been adopted in clinical oncology to advance personalized treatment of cancer.
With these new advancements and requirements to involve specialists to assist with Abigail's treatments, this brings in more costs to ensure we can put her into the absolute best care possible. Original Post: Hello, my name is Nicole and I am fundraising for my beautiful daughter Abigail. Abigail was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma, which is cancer cells in the lymph system, and she also has a large mass on her right lung. She is a young beautiful woman, age 24 and she graduated as a Cardio Tech in 2021 and has been enjoying her work at the hospital tending to cardio patients with the utmost love and care. She has just started her journey in life, residing with her long-term boyfriend Gus in their home with their 2 bunnies, Biggie and Peaches. Abigail also has a dog named Kyah, who is with her in the photo. Anyone who has been blessed to cross paths with Abigail knows how special she is. She radiates light and love where ever she goes and has a heart of gold. Ever since she was a baby, I have called her my earth angel. With her recent diagnosis and as her mother, I am asking for your help to please contribute what you can towards her journey with cancer. The funds will be used to allow her to take time off work and focus on her health and treatment. We are looking into a variety of cancer clinics in order to offer her the best outcome possible because she is so deserving of a life of longevity and living cancer free. Another important part of Abigail's healing is providing her with proper nutrients, wholesome foods, meditative yoga, massage therapy and other holistic treatments to strengthen her body which the funding will help support.
