Assalamu Alaikum Dear Friends,
Last year, I told you about how I have been living since 2010 in Kanata. When I moved, I prayed to Allah SWT that I live beside a Masjid.
We moved into home on Klondike Road and I was excited to find that Kanata Muslim Association had a musalla close by. I was so delighted and thanked Allah.
For Juma we would pray in an Anglican Church (thanks to the lovely people of faith). I used to pray a lot that Allah give us this church or same kind of big place for Masjid.
Many masajid came to Kanata for their fundraising and we welcomed them with open arms such as Bilal Masjid, Jami Omar and SNMC.
I am pleased to inform you that, alhamdulillah, we have now finally purchased and paid off 2 properties featuring:
- a total of 4 beautiful acres
- ideally located, surrounded by hundreds of Muslim families and employees
- a leased daycare in one of the buildings that is generating revenue
- enough space to host a temporary Mossalla for daily salah and limited activities.
Alhamdulillah, we have moved our Mossalla into the new property and have seen an immediate increase in attendance and engagement.
Now, we are trying to move forward in building a well-designed masjid and centre to continue our community's focus on Spirituality, Wellness and Outreach (watch above video to see what we do). This facility will give us space for salah, Quran/Islamic teaching and learning, da'wah, feeding and helping those in need, counselling, caring for seniors, children and youth education and much more. You can learn more about our community, our project and our need at www.kanatamuslims.ca.
For the past 15 years, our community has been offering Juma in rented spaces like halls, community centres and even churches. These days, hundreds of our fellow brothers and sisters offer Juma and Taraweeh at a city-run recreation complex.
This is the 7th Jumah location after the community outgrew 6 others. Other activities such as Qur'an, Islamic studies and Arabic/Urdu language classes, daily salat with jamat, halaqahs and community iftars are currently happening at 4 different rental locations.
We are getting closer alhamdulillah, but still need support. Our community has been generous but we cannot do this alone. Can you please help by contributing to my campaign? Every amount counts.
Uthman ibn Affan (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever builds a masjid for Allah, then Allah will build for them a house like it in Paradise.” (Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 439, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 533)
Your contribution will go towards building our much-needed Masjid, which will benefit our family, our community and the entire ummah for generations to come, Insha Allah.
All contributions are tax deductible for Canadian residents.
Jazak Allah khair and thank you for your support.
