Abena's Goal - A Career in Medicine

Dear Family and Friends,

Please help me raise the tuition needed to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum in Medicine at the University of Maryland July 26-August 3, 2018.  This is an extraordinary 9-day program offering an intense and stimulating exploration of the field of medicine.  This program is for high school students and it will give me a sense of the academic preparation for a career in medicine.  I will be immersed in the life of a medical student - getting real world experiences through observation, stimulation and hands on training in suturing, taking blood pressure and performing neurological exams.   I will also visit medical schools, meet with medical students, learn from doctors, participate in a disaster simulation, and watch a real life medical operation video while a physician talks through the procedure.  

My parents have done such a wonderful job in supporting me and my siblings.  They have spared no expense to make sure we have been immersed in all activities.  However, now I have a brother in college and another one on the way and money is not as plentiful.  They  are doing all they can to support me and I thought I should see what I could do to help myself.  If over the years, you have been involved with my family at birthday parties, cookouts, Kwanzaa events, etc. -  I am asking you to please support me in accomplishing this goal.
