Help me move

I'm being forced to move out of the place I'm living by the end of the year.  I am hoping to get to California and at least stay with friends, as well as possibly putting a down payment on a used car. If all else fails, I would use the money to stay at a hotel for a few weeks while I got a full-time job and utilized public transit.

This would mean I would have a safe place to go to after I leave the location I'm currently at, and I would be able to begin recovering from emotional trauma and abuse from the people I live with currently. 

Things I have done so far to try and make the move easier on myself:

-I've been applying to jobs in the Los Angeles area and down to the Irvine area. I have done a phone interview with one company so far, but I am still keeping my options open for other opportunities
-I have been trying to downsize in terms of belongings, including attempting to sell off the majority of my Transformers collection (almost 100 Transformers are being marked for sale)

- I have been looking into various apartments that would be considered reasonably priced in the area I am looking to live in. 

-I will be discussing possibly moving in with my boyfriend on a temporary basis.
