ABC Youth Foundation Develops GRIT!

Tax deductible

You are invited ring-side to witness a heavyweight title bout of epic magnitude:out of the corner teaching youth "to step off into life with their best foot forward without cowardice but with courage and dignity" representing K-12 is ABC with over five decades of coaching and mentoring success. Our opponent, "National Crisis", knocking out 7,000[1] kids per day from obtaining a high school diploma, [2]spending 5.7 billion annually on juvenile arrest with a [3]26% juvenile arrests rate and even more frightening 58% of youth admitted to state prisons. Sadly, nearly half (49%) of all documented gang members are Hispanic/Latino, 35% percent are African American/black. With [4]72 million children under the age of 18 representing 24% of the total US population, can you believe they comprise 34% of all people in poverty? Our youth have the fight of their lives ahead of them and need our help "“ need your help "“ standing in their corner.

Join Any Body Can Youth Foundation (ABC) which was founded over 50 years ago in Southeast San Diego by legendary light-heavyweight champion of the world, Archie Moore. Archie's mission was, "to empower San Diego's inner city youth to face life's challenges with courage and dignity." Today Billy Moore, Archie's son, and the dedicated ABC team carry out this legacy serving more than 500 youth every year to dream "“ to hope "“ and to fight for a future undeterred by violence, drugs, gangs and poverty. Help us to train, mentor and coach our children and young adults who are caught in the crossfire of gang activity every day.

ABC understands a new social landscape has emerged "“ one which our young people will need new tools to equip them in facing these challenges "“ out of our long tradition of successful youth development through boxing instruction and physical education from world-class coaches our afterschool program has grown. We are truly excited about the recent successes in our "Bridging the Gap" school break enrichment programs, after school tutoring from credentialed teachers, adult mentoring, and nutrition counseling. Joining the ring at ABC is our newly appointed Executive Director, Robert Smith, to spearhead organizational growth, program development and measuring our programs impact. To date we know that;

75% of youth attending 3 or more times a week are receiving top honors at school

95% of students surveyed state "I refuse drugs when offered"

85% of ABC kids that attend our summer program voluntarily return the following summer.

Finally, our youth say "ABC is a positive and cool place and I choose to be a part of it."

One of the many examples of our positive effect on young minds is LeMar Slater. At ABC, LeMar from the early of age of eight learned how to fight an environment fueled by violence, gangs and drug activity. As a result, he graduated high school as class valedictorian and graduated Morehouse College with honors in Mathematics. For 10 years, LeMar has remained steadfast in his volunteer activities for ABC, carrying on Archie's legacy of giving back.

ABC sees a bright new future with our new leadership and programming we ask for your support, get in our corner - help us wrap our hands and put on our gloves to take on the challenge of fighting to save our inner-city youth. Any Body Can Youth Foundation is requesting support from you to meet our [5]$200,000.000 goal for programming and operational support to launch "Pathways to Success" a vital program component to support the future leaders of a community. With this program ABC will increase its activities in the areas of community outreach, program growth and infrastructural capacity. A central element of Pathways to Success will be the establishment of the Computer-Camp, enhanced educational services, along with strengthening existing programs. The Camp will provide not only academics, computer literacy and internet safety learning, but will increase its capacity to offer life-skills, fitness and nutritional education, and financial literacy for students from elementary through high school.

Further, it is the goal of the Camp to provide students with a refurbished computer upon successful completion of the camp thereby enabling them and their households to connect to the information superhighway. Additionally, parents of students participating in ABC's youth programs will be able to take advantage of ABC's programs thereby bringing stability to fragile families. This will bring an inter-generational component to ABC's service provision.

ABC and its youth rely heavily on corporate, foundation and community support. A give from you would help children and future generations in Southeast San Diego not only escape the violence in their neighborhoods, but quite possibly change a community for a brighter future.

At ABC we believe prevention is the key. Help us keep our kids in school and away from gangs and drugs. AND, help us serve as a model for growth and development for other inner-city communities looking to KNOCK OUT the challenges of our young world title contenders!
