Treatment and Transition for Abby

Donation protected
After years of prescription drug abuse and addiction, my little sister Abby has committed herself to the detox, treatment and transition from a life dependent on opiates and benzos.

I can't emphasize enough how difficult and humbling this has been for Abby. For the better part of ten years, she's lived dual lives: one portion as the happy-go-lucky, charming and charismatic girl we know, and the other battling immense mental health issues. Over the last 10 years, Abby has been placed in psychiatric hospitals almost 30 times, and has attempted suicide 12 times.

Abby is a prime example of the failures our healthcare system is capable of. Each time she's entered into psychiactric treatment, she's received varying diagnosis, afterwhich she's prescribed an additional controlled substance and dismissed until the next episode occurs.

After a few years on various medications, Abby became extremely ill and began experiencing long bouts of muscle weakness and body aches. She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia three years ago, and has since developed both a physical and mental addiction to prescription opiates and benzos; taking 11 medications daily.

We believe that Abby may have been misdiagnosed after receiving improper mental health treatment. We believe the physical symptoms present at her fibromyalgia diagnosis may have been attributed to drug interactions present in the prescriptions she was previously taking.

In the last 3 years, Abby's health has deteroriated and she is unable to work full-time and provide for herself. She is 28 years old. Abby wants to be healthy. She wants the ability to live a life where she can have a job, create a home, and have relationships again. We hope that with the help of a 120-day treatment facility, we can support Abby in her recovery and provide an opportunity for her to receive accurate and informed drug treatment and mental health rehabilitation, which is what she deserves.

All donations collected go directly towards transportation and transition costs to and from Abby's apartment on the east coast to the facility in Tucson, and to cover costs associated with storage/housing transition following treatment. Donations will also be used to contribute to costs associated with general items and necessities during treatment (hygiene products, etc). All donations are managed by me (Abby's sister, Kaia).

Any support is appreciated, and we can't thank you enough!
