Abby Mitchell Collapsed Lung Fund

Our dear friend Abigail Mitchell has suffered a major bout of pneumonia that triggered her Rheumatoid Arthritis to flare into a condition called Rheumatoid Lung. She has been in the ICU for the past three days after going to the ER because she was struggling to breath as her left lung was completely filled with fluid and her right lung wasn’t doing well either. The ER doctors had her on a table within minutes of arriving, cutting into her side to drain her lung quickly in order to save her life. Yes, Abby almost didn’t make it. But she’s toughing it out and doing much better, sitting up, eating, and smiling. She will probably spend another two nights in the ICU, then be admitted into a regular room at the hospital until her doctor discharges her. We don’t know how long that will be but her prognosis is good.  Now her friends are asking for your help. Abby has been living on disability for several years and her insurance will only cover about 75% of her hospital stay (5-days in the ICU!), then an unknown amount of her outpatient treatment. Compounding this, her landlord told her two months ago that he planned to list her house for sale and that her lease wouldn’t be renewed; Abby will have to move out of her house by the end of January (!!!). Abby has always been a resourceful girl, but she needs our help to get through this. We’re hoping to raise enough funds to settle her into her new home then cover at least some of her medical expenses.
