Abbie Silverstone Medical Expenses

Abbie Silverstone, an eleven year old from Escanaba, Michigan, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Friends of the family have set up this page to help with travel, lodging, and medical expenses for the family. Thank you so much for supporting this sweet girl and her family!

Below are posts from Abbie’s mother describing how they first found out that Abbie had cancer and updates on how she is doing.

From Nichole - Abbie's mom on Sept 28
About 4 weeks ago our precious Abbie complained of a lymph node that was bothering her on the left side of her neck. Abbie felt fine, so the plan was to watch it. 2 weeks later, Abbie is walking down the driveway with her backpack just so and I noticed that the lump on the left side of her neck was about the size of an egg now. We made an appointment on Tuesday with the doctor and then proceeded with necessary tests... labs , chest X-ray, EKG and ultrasound of her neck scheduled for last Friday. Days followed with CT scan of chest and neck which all showed suspicious enlarged lymph nodes in her neck, armpits, upper chest, spleen and some nodules on her right lung. We met with an ENT doctor from Aurora hospital (wonderful) who fit us in after his busy surgery day yesterday to perform a biopsy of some lymph nodes on the left side of her neck. Surgery went well and so today we just met with 2 pediatric oncologists at St. Vincent's hospital (wonderful too) who talked with us and Abbie about what all tests and scans seem to imply.... some form of lymphoma. The biopsy will tell us for sure what kind we are dealing with . They will set up a pet scan next week to see where else the cancer might be and then once we have the biopsy results , set up chemotherapy treatments for her . We appreciate all the texts , prayers.... thank you so much ! I also would like to thank Dr. Nagano and suite 104 staff for being so wonderful. I appreciate you all so much !
Please keep Abbie in your prayers

I received a call from Abbie's pediatric oncologist yesterday.... the biopsy shows classical Hodgkin's lymphoma. Tomorrow Abbie will have a PET scan done to see where else the cancer may have spread . This will also help us with staging the cancer. With what her scans have showed so far, they are thinking stage 3 possibly stage 4. Next steps will include a bone marrow biopsy to see if it has spread there and to have a central line/ port placed for her chemotherapy treatments. Please continue to keep Abbie in your prayers and as this picture shows Abbie is ready to defeat this cancer with God and her family / friends by her side ..

Abbie update.... what a trooper today she was ! The morning started with a pulmonary function test to check out her lungs . Then she had an IV placed to get ready for her PET scan which she had to lay still for about 1 hour and 45 minutes , which included the injection and scan. This was followed by a visit with her oncologist where we discussed her scans and chemotherapy medications. Great news was that the PET scan showed no new areas of cancer other than the areas we already knew, which we were worried about. Her day ended with an EKG . Long day indeed.....
Tomorrow she will have a bone marrow biopsy to make sure the cancer has not spread to her bone marrow and at the same time will have a port placed for her chemotherapy treatments.
Jamie and I would like to thank everyone for all your prayers and kindness. Your support has meant so so much ❤
Abbie had to go to the packer pro shop after we ate ..... good way to end the day with a laugh and smile

Abbie update.... bone marrow biopsy was negative of cancer cells, yeah !!!! She will still be diagnosed high risk stage 4 due to the nodules on her right lung. Tomorrow she will start the dreaded chemotherapy treatments. Praying that her small body will handle these strong medications and their side effects.
