Veterinary Bills for Calico Cat

Donation protected

I am pleading for assistance to help cover the cost of hospitalization and veterinary care for a rescued Thoroughbred mare.  I'm a working class gal just trying to make ends meet while providing a safe and comfortable retirement home for Calico Cat, her mother Comical Cat, and Fountain Lake (herself the dam of Triple Crown runner-up Free House).   I ask for your help with this burden so that I can continue to provide a safe retirement home for these wonderful ladies.

In 1995, I left behind my native California and moved cross country to Lexington, KY, to work with Thoroughbreds.  At my first job, I fell in love with a sweet mare named Comical Cat, and her fearful filly.  We bonded over those months and slowly the filly lost her fear of people.

In the years following, our paths kept crossing until eventually I was able to adopt Comical Cat, but I lost track of Calico Cat.

Then as if fate intervened, I received a call out of the blue from a horse rescue that needed a home for an older Thoroughbred mare.  Miraculously, the mare was none other than Calico Cat!

Now almost a dowager herself at 19 years, Calico Cat has been reunited her with her 29-year-old and still thriving mother at my home in Paris, Ky.  In December of 2013, Calico Cat arrived back in her home state of Kentucky and back at her mother's side.

Since arriving, Calico Cat has thrived, gained weight, and become an integral part of our little herd.

Unfortunately, in June 2014, Calico Cat developed a potentially deadly foot infection. She required hospitalization and expensive veterinary care to save her foot and her life.  This has generated veterinary bills which far exceed my capacity to pay and threaten my ability to continue to care for these mares in their golden years. If you can help, even with just a single dollar, please consider helping keep these ladies happy and healthy.
