The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), one of the largest, non-profit multi-sport amateur sports organizations in the world

An AAU Basketball team is a way for a community of kids to stay active, build friendships and relationship. It encourages teamwork and family values creating stronger and responsible adults. There are teams all around Columbus and it's not difficult to start one but unfortunately they are not without costs.

Tye Battiste is a local young entrepreneur, basketball player and a team leader kind of teen.  Tragically, he recently lost his father
and is working on a way to honor him in the best way he knows how.  Starting and playing in an AAU Basketball team is one of the things his dad was pushing him to do. "Make something of your own. Gather the people in your circle and make it happen." So he did. He has built a very hardworking team of 12 teenage boys, found the best man to be their coach and started scheduling scrimmages. 

Coach Isiah Brown is a former A+ Academy Basketball Coach, Local Independent Artist featured in A2IM (a non-profit music organization supporting independent musicians) and a proud member of WESTAND614 . When asked why he became the volunteer coach for the team Brown said "The kids I work with come from a specific environment that can come with distractions.  When they are playing they are busy and active. It builds better men with more accountability"

Here is where we need your help! Finances are tough, especially for young teens and I feel strongly that the Columbus community can come together to meet this goal.

The money raised will be used on the following goals;
* A one of a kind logo for the C-Bus Shooting Stars, colors
   red black and white - Tye's dad’s favorite colors
*New jerseys with the team logo, names and numbers and masks for safety
*Rehearsal and practice spaces sometimes need to be rented
*Travel expenses and tournament costs ($250+ per team per tournament)

I have had the honor of knowing Tye for 2 years now. He saw me mowing my yard and asked if he could take over for me. He is kind, smart and loves basketball and we feel lucky he is in our lives. He founded this team for kids in his community to share his love of B-ball and in his words "to build a big brotherhood." He truly is a role model for his community and a positive influence. He often brings young boys in when mowing lawns to help them learn the skills of earning summer money, sharing his earnings with them. I personally can't wait to see the great things he will accomplish in his life
