The Dawson Kidneys

Donation protected
My brother, Jacob Dawson (29) needs a kidney transplant. He has been on dialysis since May of 2013, when he was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), caused by a birth defect of his kidneys. My dad, Larry, has graciously stepped up to donate one of his kidneys to Jacob. He is scheduled to donate August 18th at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, OR. Insurance will cover all of the medical costs, but not all the accompanying living expenses, particularly renting an appartment for 12 weeks in downtown Portland near the hospital. Plus, my dad will not be able to work for at least 4 weeks and my mom, Sue, will not be able to work for 12 weeks, while she is full time care taker of Jacob and Dad. When dad is allowed to go home to Prineville, he will be driving back many times 300 miles round trip in that time Jacob is healing. Many of you know that my father-in-law, "Bear" Greller, has had two kidney transplants in the last thirteen years, the last one donated by his son, Brian. Through Bear and my mother-in-law, Janeo, we are aware more than most of the financial, emotional and physical stresses that accompany this kind of remarkable surgery. However you are able and led to participate, Jacob, mom and dad, and all of our extended family are deeply grateful. The goal is to raise $16,000 to help with expenses and offsetting the loss of salaries for mom and dad. Thanks so much! Please keep Jacob, dad and mom in your prayers through the surgery and healing time.
