Aaron Best PTSD Healing Walk
Donation protected
My name is Robert, and most of you reading this probably already know me and my long time friend and US Army veteran Aaron Best.
First of all about me - I’ve never been big on FundRaisers. When people told me I should do one for my old farm I never did. Aaron, in his selfless nature, created one and paved the way for me to put a new roof on my old farm house… a long time dream.
So, I want to return the favor. Aaron and I have been friends for years. Over the past year we’ve been spending more time together than ever and I have witnessed him struggle with PTSD and related issues. Without going into to much personal detail (as it’s not my place) I know Aaron has struggled a lot in life - both with the loss of his brother who also suffered PTSD and his own PTSD. As you are well aware Veterans often do not receive the treatment they need and deserve.
Aaron has a wish to walk part of the Appalachian Trail with his service dog in training. This is not a simple vacation or getaway for him - It is a trip he wants to take to try and get a mental reset and put him in a place where he can sober up and clear his head. Over recent time he has struggled with alcohol abuse, something he is aware of and wants a chance to sober up - in his own way.
Spending a month on the Appalachian Trail is not an easy feat - both financially and physically. Currently Aaron is taking steps to train for his walk and gather supplies. Through this GoFundMe I would like to help lessen the burden as far as the cost of supplies to go on the trail and the fear of finances lost on this hike. We will keep track of how the money is spent on supplies and keep everyone updated as this trip continues. I love Aaron like a brother and can think of no one more deserving of something like this.
