AAPI Rally Against Hate: Support Atlanta Victims
On March 16th in Atlanta, 6 women of Asian descent were among the eight people who were killed in a targeted attack on "Young's Asian Spa" and other local spas.
According to Stop AAPI Hate, nearly 3800 hate incidents were reported in 2020, with 500+ new reports since January 1st, and a 1900% increase in anti-Asian hate crimes in NYC. The AAPI community has faced a tragic increase in hate crimes since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This Sunday, we are coming together to host the "AAPI Rally Against Hate" to unite as a community to show concern and compassion for recent events. Our goal is to:
- Send a message that anti-Asian hate is an immediate issue
- Share knowledge and tips for staying safe and reporting crimes
- Spread positive energy through music & our speakers.

85% of all donations will be going directly towards helping the Atlanta victims' families and 15% of donations will go towards supporting 501(c)3 non-profit advocacy work to continue hosting rallies and advocating against AAPI Hate Crimes. The rally's organizers, speakers, and partner organizations are all donating their time to the rally. Affiliated non-profit groups including East Side Stories NYC, Welcome to Chinatown, Protect Chinatown, and the COVID Foundation will not be recipients of any funds raised through this campaign.

Andrew & David Fung, aka "Fung Brothers" (@fungbros ): With over 2 million subscribers on YouTube, the Fung Brothers are Asian American creators known for their musicality, good humor, and community focus. The Brothers have been featured in the New York Times, NPR, the Cooking Channel and Travel Channel. In 2015 they got their own cable TV food-travel show on the FYI Network called “What The Fung?!”, a fresh, multicultural take on food in America.
Jack Liang (@jackliang ): Jack is an entrepreneur dedicated to spreading joy through deep connections. He is a member of Instagram's Global Product Service Team, Startup Advisor at Facebook, and has owned and operated multiple restaurant & hospitality businesses in NYC.
Ben Wei (@mrbenwei ): Ben is a non-profit founder and tech entrepreneur, born and raised in NYC. During the pandemic, Ben has helped donate 400,000 pieces of PPE to frontline healthcare workers in NYC and currently leads the COVID Foundation. He currently serves as a Harvard Elected Director. Ben’s non-profit work has been recognized by the NYC Mayor’s Office, ABC News, The Atlantic, Buzzfeed News, NBC, CBS NY, & LA Times.

Why are you hosting this campaign?
We are hosting this campaign because we have been asked by multiple rally attendees on how they can best help and so we would like to use the current spotlight as an opportunity to support the Atlanta victims. Because of the recency of the attack, proper fundraising channels are still being established. We are committing ourselves to making sure the funds raised gets directly to the families and are working closely with the GoFundMe executive team to ensure that happens.
