Anyone who knows Holly Worsham, automatically thinks of her contagious joy for life, her hilarious sense of humor, and her love for Christ and others. Many of us also think of her parents, Gary and Freddie Worsham, and their generosity, friendship, and leadership in several different churches over the years of Gary's career as a pastor. Many individuals and families have been greatly blessed by Holly and the Worsham family.
ABOUT HOLLY
Currently, Holly lives in CA and works for a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles called Children’s Hunger Fund as the Executive Assistant to the President & Founder. Although, her decreasing health has made it so she is unable to fully do her job. Being ill has also affected her ability to do much outside of work. Her life has changed drastically in the last year. She has difficulty sleeping, and doing basic tasks like walking up and down stairs, standing from a sitting position, etc... What were very simple tasks before have become painful and difficult.
Just 2 short years ago, she was working 4 jobs, constantly busy, involved in many things, volunteering and helping others – and loving it! Her life has changed in such a short window and it has been very discouraging.
MEDICAL ISSUES
Holly has Crohn's disease, from which the majority of her medical issues primarily stem.
-Due to the chronic inflammation/disease in her intestines, she cannot absorb vitamins & nutrients, even through frequent injections, let alone through food. As a result, she is chronically and severely vitamin deficient, anemic, malnourished, and dehydrated.
-This vitamin deficiency has resulted in chronic secondary infections and other health issues for the past 6 months, such as walking pneumonia, intestinal infections, heart issues, etc. The lack of vitamins has also caused her asthma to worsen significantly, and has also caused rapid weight gain.
-The most debilitating outcome of the vitamin deficiency is the chronic, severe pain and stiffness she experiences throughout her whole body. Her joints and muscles do not always function properly, due to the lack of vitamins and nutrition. Sometimes she has difficulty with even the smallest of movements.
HOW THE MONEY WILL BE USED
-Holly is seeking treatment from an integrative medicine hospital, since the current traditional treatments are not helping and her health is, in fact, worsening. Sanoviv has the ability to treat her conditions. She has been able to negotiate the cost of care through a personal contact, which is a huge help, especially since insurance will not cover her care. She needs to stay for a minimum of 4 nights/5 days, primarily for diagnostic exams. The cost of the medical care and tests, the travel and stay is $7,200. The continuing costs of further care are unknown, but will be long-term since her disease is only treatable, not curable.
-To complicate the matter further, Holly's car died. Currently, she is borrowing a car from a friend. But, obviously, this is only a short term fix and Holly needs to travel to the hospital for her care. The little bit she was able to save for a car is being applied to her medical needs. She needs to purchase a used car.
IN SUMMARY: The money will be used for the diagnostic testing and evaluation at Sanoviv, the travel and stay at Sanoviv, the purchase of a decent used car to make travel safe and possible, and to begin the treatment prescribed, an ongoing and large expense.
