This is the Chris & Alyssa Wentzel family. They live in Greenville, SC. Less than a month ago, Alyssa was doing what she always does – being a wife and mother, teaching English to kids in China and teaching in a local Christian school. Everyone who knows her speaks to her personal character, her tireless energy and her commitment to her heavenly Father, her family and the students she loves teaching.
On May 7, their world was radically changed when they learned that Alyssa has cancer in two locations. When she learned of the risks associated with the action plan her doctors proposed she was uneasy. After days of prayer, research and discussion with family, she decided to pursue treatment at the Envita Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona (www.envita.com). Envita is an integrative medical facility that uses both traditional and alternative methods. Unfortunately, because their treatment includes some methods that are outside the AMA protocol, their insurance will not cover the cost.
Alyssa and her mother flew to Phoenix on Wednesday, May 29 and will be there 8-12 weeks. Initially, it appeared that we’d need to raise funds for the medical treatment plus their housing and transportation. The Lord has miraculously provided housing and a vehicle through the kindness of the church family at Harvest Bible Church in Phoenix.
I am asking you to do three things:
· Pray, Pray and Pray some more for complete and total healing for Alyssa and pray for her husband, Chris, and their two precious children, Kendra (14) and Grant (11) who will spend most of their summer separated from their wife and mother.
· If you are able, please make a donation (or several) for her medical treatment. The total cost will not be known until she finishes her time there, but estimates are in the $100,000.00 range. There is no such thing as a “small” gift.
