Dear friends,
This year marks the 4th annual weight stigma conference, occurring April 29 and 30th, 2016 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Learn more: Stigmaconference.com.
The conference theme this year is ACTION. We know weight stigma is a major social justice and health issue and now we are talking about HOW TO FIX IT.
But we need your help. The conference is run by a group of volunteers. We don’t want any payment or profit from what we do, but we do want to make the conference more affordable/accessible to attend for others. The conference registration fees this year are set at $325 Canadian for two days. This covers the cost of renting space for two days, providing food for the conference attendees during program hours and paying for travel and accommodation for our keynote speakers.
Unfortunately, this cost of registration means that some people who want to attend the conference are unable to. :( We need your assistance to make the conference more affordable. We are hoping to raise some money so that we can offset the cost of attending for some people who need it the most. Depending on how much money we raise, we could reduce the registration fee for some people, or even waive it or.... (dreaming here?) even provide travel subsidies.
Please help make our conference more accessible! If you are unable to donate money, please donate your time and help spread the word by reaching out to other possible donors.

PS - We intend to be 100% transparent about how any and all money raised through this process is spent. We also aim to use ALL the money raised this year, but if we have money leftover we will use it to provide bursaries next year.
