Deanna's Story......
There are many things a young woman of 31 years old would, or should be thinking about. Will I ever fall in love? Should I buy a house? Will I get married one day? Do I want to have children? What is my next career move? Not, Will I live to see my 32nd birthday? Beautiful, smart, independent Deanna Dodson has had to ask herself this very question after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at the age of 31. Instead of pondering questions about how she saw herself in the future, she had to face the fight of her life to ensure she had a future at all. And fight she did. And continues to do. She reached her 32nd birthday, but now, fights to see more birthdays and have a chance of answering some of those questions most young people take for granted.
Deanna was raised mostly by a single mother, after her parents’ painful divorce. She watched her mother struggle to feed, clothe and keep a roof over her head, and her younger sister Demetria. She never wanted to cause her mother anymore stress. But, cancer saw otherwise. Deanna’s first bout with this disease came when she was only 18 years old. She fought, and fought and the cancer was in remission for over 10 years. Now, it’s back and she is once again struggling to survive.
With painful treatments and mounting expenses, Deanna needs our help to help her live long enough to see if she will ever get married, have a dynamic career, have a child or whatever she see’s for her future. She only wants to have a future, like her peers. And to see her niece and nephew continue to grow and thrive. To spend quality sister time with her younger sister. To have grown-up conversations about life with her beloved mother. And to not think about the mounting cost of trying to live with cancer. We all love Deanna and are pleading with you to help us, help her fight this disease.
